Fizz, Boom, Read! Summer Reading for Children

Fizz, Boom, Read! is designed to help children of all ages develop and maintain their literacy skills over the summer. This year, we will be exploring science through exciting programs, activities, and books that are sure to ignite your child’s interest in reading and learning. The Jacksonville Public Library Summer Reading Program runs June 1 through August 15.

Children of all ages can earn a free book just by registering online and logging the books read. Registration begins June 1. To be eligible, children from birth to age 5 must read or listen to at least 20 books with a caregiver. Children from ages 5-12 must read at least 10 books. After July 1, print out the book log on the registration site or bring in your paper log and show it to a librarian to pick out a free book. Limit one book per child, while supplies last.

The Library Lab Card is a new feature for Summer 2014! The Library Lab Card is a collection of 12 literacy-related activities. Children of all ages can earn a special prize by completing 8 of the 12 activities on their Library Lab Card.  Prizes are available after July 1st, while supplies last.

Spark a Reaction! is designed to help teens maintain the literacy skills they acquired during the school year. This summer, we will be exploring science, technology, and the arts through exciting books and activities that are sure to spark your teen’s interest in reading and learning. The Jacksonville Public Library Summer Reading Program runs June 1 through August 15.
